A tradecraft tactic on strategically and seamlessly changing the subject of a conversation to a more desirable / controlled direction; to evade topics or deception.

When engaging in any conversation, professional or casual, there are times when you need / want to change the subject to something else.

The subject may be uncomfortable, classified or could negatively affect your standing within the conversation and person(s) involved. So for whatever reason, the subject in question must be changed but without having to cease the conversation.
